Clement Agoni
Clement is currently a doctoral candidate of Pharmaceutical Chemistry at the University of KwaZulu Natal. He joined the WEF Global Shaper - Durban Hub in November of 2018.
When asked, Clement says being a global shaper has allowed him to be directly involved in driving change at the grassroots level regardless of where he is located on the planet. Prior to being elected curator of the hub, Clement served as the lead of the health team of the Durban hub. Under his leadership, the health team has championed a number of projects encompassed under our umbrella project "Health and Awareness Drive". The drive aimed at providing health education and medical screening for rural communities within the eThekwini municipality. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Clement led the health team to initiate the "ShapersCare '' project. This project was a partnership with the Domino Foundation which set out to provide 100,000 food and hygiene hampers to support households that would be badly hit during the lockdown.
Concerned about the climate crisis, Clement trained as a climate reality leader under the climate reality project of former US vice president Al Gore in Minneapolis in 2019 and currently champions various climate-related projects through the Durban Hub.
Clement currently serves on an 11 member COVID-19 Steering Committee of the Global Shapers Community where together with other committee members, is tasked to inspire, empower, and connect the Global Shapers Community’s work on COVID-19.
