Ivan Verunica
A native of Croatia, Ivan Verunica finished high school in the USA before getting his BA in English Lit at Ljubljana University and his MPhil in Dramaturgy from the University of Glasgow. After six years of working in Scotland, Luxembourg and the USA, Ivan started TRY Theatre in western Croatia, with the overarching aim of using drama as a unique tool to build self-awareness, self-confidence and inspire personal and social change in young people.
He has written ten full-length plays, three of which received international attention and awards. His work primarily focuses on building bridges between the global and the personal, the potential and the action. Ivan has led workshops and collaborated with the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, National Youth Theatre of England, Prague Youth Theatre, Young Theatre, Michigan State University and several international schools, to mention but some.
He staunchly believes that drama is an extremely effective tool for self-analysis, self-acceptance and social change.
