Leszek Michalak
As Innovation Lead at Thomson Reuters Labs Zurich Region, in his everyday work, Leszek works with the other members of the Labs team to develop new solutions using innovative technologies such as natural language processing, machine learning or artificial intelligence. His role is about guiding innovation projects through different phases of development - from defining a problem through to developing test versions of solutions and actually testing them. He collaborates with a broad group of experts including user experience researchers and designers, data scientists and engineers within the Labs Team, as well as the business teams.
Leszek’s background is in Linguistics, he holds an MA degree in English from the University of Warsaw, for which he specialized in generative phonology. Leszek also holds a post-graduate degree in Six Sigma and Project Manager Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute.
Leszek has been with Thomson Reuters for 13 years and has held a variety of different roles, including individual contributor roles as well as team management positions. His last three roles have focused on innovation and automation in different business contexts. Leszek has been a volunteer at Coder Dojo events and at hackathons as a mentor.
