Neil Hughes
Neil is General Manager and Head of EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) for Insmed, a US based biotech company that is focused on delivering treatments to patients with rare respiratory diseases. He has worked in start-ups, biotech and big pharma.
Neil is engaged with various groups on the public policy and ethical aspects of healthcare. While working at Eli Lilly and Company, he was representative on the industry group (PMA) that engaged with the Clinton Administration on US Healthcare reform, and he was also an industry representative at the IOF, the global advocacy group for osteoporosis.
For a number of years, while living in the US, Neil taught each semester at the University of Colorado, Boulder’s Leeds Business School on “Ethical Issues in the Pharmaceutical Industry”. He has a particular interest in access to healthcare, pricing, and “perverse incentives” which unintentionally encourage sub-optimal care.
